The Attic of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church

Yes, Most Pure Heart of Mary Church does have an attic, which many people don't know. Below is some information about the attic and some pictures. Enjoy!!!!!

The second floor of the church is a small area. In the late '60s, when Vatican II started, large groups of teenagers would meet upstairs in the attic. This group was called Folk Group. They would sing songs of praise and worship to God. Several of our current teachers and parishioners were part of this group. They painted the walls vibrant colors that were actually in style!!!

Now, the once colorful and full of life attic is used for storage. It holds everything from flags to candles to wreaths and banners and other sorts of decoration used for the church. The attic also holds the church air conditioner. On the second floor attic, near the air conditioner, is a small red ladder attached to the wall. This mysterious ladder leads to an even higher attic on the third floor.

On the third floor is the room that contains the speaker boxes that you notice by the large cross behind the alter. If you have ever gone to one of our masses you will know what I am talking about. Directly above the large cross is an arch, and it is completely pitch black, this is the attic that I am talking about that contains the speaker boxes.

Once in the attic, you can open a door on the speaker box, and peer inside. The only thing covering the speakers is a thin mesh that you can see from the church ground level. Once peering inside, you can overlook the church through this mesh. From one speaker, you can even view the rose window located in the back of church.

This a picture of the top attic of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church. This is the arch that is above the alter and cross. You are able to look out of this arch, but the ladder is not as strong and stable as it used to be. To the right and to the left are the LARGE speaker boxes.

This is one of the speakers. There are only two of them. They are located up and two the right and left of the alter. The picture here is looking through the speaker and overlooking the church. You can see the rose glass window in the background. You can also see the balcony below the rose glass window.
