It all began 1861 at 17th and Stone St. When The Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas had the revelation of a great church. The church began with 136 founding families. Most Pure Heart's mother church is Holy Name.
As you can see there have been many changes over the past years. One of the changes is the removal of the gates. This happened after the Second Vatican Council. Before the Second Vatican Council the priest was facing the back altar. After that the church added the front altar. Now the priest faces the assembly. The tile and carpet were weary so the church replaced it. We have added a picture of present day and one of the beginning of the church. You can see what changes to the church have been made.
